A cyber cafe is still very important in Nigeria, especially in places like Imo State, even though many people now have phones.
First, it provides access to the internet for people who cannot afford personal data, laptop or steady light. With a small money like ₦200 - ₦300 per hour, anyone can browse, check email, do online registration and print.
Second, cyber cafes are very important for students. Most school registrations like JAMB, WAEC, NYSC, Post-UTME, scholarship applications and project research are done in cyber cafes. The cafe provides computers, printers, scanners and people to help you do it correctly.
Third, it creates jobs. It gives employment to young people who work as operators and it is also a business for the owner.
Fourth, it helps for business services. People go there to type and print documents, do photocopy, laminating, graphic design, online business registration (CAC), NIN slip printing, CV writing and passport photos.
Fifth, it helps the community to learn computer skills. Many people who don't know how to use computer learn from the cafe operator. It reduces computer illiteracy.
Sixth, in areas where network is poor or there is no light at home, cyber cafe has generator and stronger network/WiFi, so people can still do important online work.
In summary, cyber cafe is not just for browsing. It is an information center, education center, business center and employment center for the community.
