Why shoppers add to cart and then leave, and three fixes

Post by Cassy micheal »

We’ve all checked our analytics dashboard at the end of the day and felt that familiar punch to the gut: traffic was solid, dozens of people added items to their cart... and then they vanished into thin air without paying. Cart abandonment is the silent killer of online retail.
Usually, it happens because of three friction points. First, unexpected costs at the very last second—like taxes or sudden shipping fees that pop up on the final screen. Fix this by being upfront about costs on the product page itself.

Second, a forced account creation step. If you make someone fill out a five-minute registration form just to buy a $20 item, they will bounce. Enable guest checkout immediately.

Third, a lack of trust signals right where they enter their credit card. Add clear security badges, a visible return policy link, and real customer support info right inside the cart drawer. Clear these three hurdles, and watch your completed orders climb.
